Reynolds reform for one off show in London!

Reynolds perform at Silver Rocket's bash at The Buffalo Bar, Islington, London on December 15. Below them on t'bill are the excellent Kling Klang, Twinkie and called Stranger Sons Of WB. Anyone on the indie club's mailing list can get in for nowt. Which is nice, isn't it!?

Reynold's Chris Summerlin said of the show:

"The proper official last ever Reynolds gig was in Nottingham in May '03, with 90 Day Men, and it went with a shoulder-shrugging fizzle. Then drummer Kevin moved to Japan to teach English. To celebrate his return from the East and one member's impending fatherhood we've decided to play a one-off show with the line-up that made the album Love Songs and maybe some extra members too, if we can get our shit together. Also, it's worth pointing out that Slint reformed recently and we always copied all our ideas from them."

LORDS T-SHIRTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!

06/09/06

I'm off to Chicago/Seattle/Olympia for a few weeks! Any orders made between 6 -23 September may have to wait until I ge back, unless I can persuade my housemates to post them!

Gringo is very pleased to be planning a release by SAILORS, a rather excellent band from scattered between Newcastle, Leeds and Saltaire. Chris from Lords reckons they sound a little like Circus Lupus, and who am I to disagree? They will be recording in October and we'll try and get a record out as soon as possible. Sophie from Sailors also drums in Chronicity, who feature Pete Dale of Red Monkey.

Another new band to welcome to the Gringo fold is SOUVARIS. Dear friends of mine, they have been recorded their second album which will hopefully be out by the end of the year.

BILGE PUMP feature on Run of The Mill's next split single in the 'They Do Them' covers series. This beautiful item has Bilge Pump and Pifco covering Jonathan Richman songs. We have copies of this in our distro! Bilge Pump are have almost written a new album. If you want to write them a song, please send your music to the Gringo PO Box address. Jonesy is buying a house, I think.

SOEZA's horn player, Dan, is now the proud father of a bouncing baby boy, named Henry Logan Cornfield. This lovely news means that Soeza have begun recording for their next album. Mark Simms of The Electric Press is recording Soeza for the first time, using the magical power of computers instead of magnetic tape. One of the other Soeza projects, LINE, will have a records out soon on the excellent Super-Fi label from Bristol.

CLAMBAKE have no gigs, no announcements, no plans, no nothing! But the 'Bake will be doing some recording in September. At the moment they only wish to proclaim love of blues rock, hard rock and seaside rock, beer gardens and the lovely English countryside.

DESIGNER BABIES have been recording too. I've been promised a cool somewhat unique and interesting record. I wouldn't expect anything less. Joy!

Chris Mack recently visited Glasgow for the duration of August and ESKA did some recording. This may be the second Eska album! Colin tells me the album has a working title of 'Sonic Chess'. He even gave me a tentative tracklisting (just to whet my appetite):

Arab Horses
You Can Call Me Jackson
Hypnotism Act 1952
Corrugation Castle
Airlift Me Out
Spectrum (Loading)
Tape Snake Hiss Haste
Mid-Evil
City Survival Suit

LORDS lots and lots of gig action. An Irish tour with The Unit Ama among them.

THE UNIT AMA have been taking a break for the summer. I saw Steve play solo as THE HORSE LOOM and he was breathtaking. Plans may be afoot for a Gringo release.
